Gene Therapy

Cancer always originates from genetic alterations. Many research projects concentrate on gene therapies, trying to start from the beginning, i.e. the biological source of the cancer. Based on the idea of immune therapy, many scientists seek to replace altered genes by normal genes, implanted directly into cancer cells. Genetic research is still at the experimental status at the moment. A complete healing of colorectal cancer could be achieved in rat models treated with such a new gene technology. However, a gene therapy able to cure patients with colorectal cancer is currently not available.
