Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is an effective treatment that is almost always given in rectal cancer, either before (neo-adjuvant) or after (adjuvant) surgery, often in combination with chemotherapy (chemo-radiation). It is an effective treatment option also in metastases, especially bone metastases. On occasion, also inoperable metastases in brain or liver are treated with radiation.
